GCC to continue with joint tourism initiatives

Muscat: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) tourism ministers held a meeting via video conference recently to follow up on the latest developments in the region and review the repercussions it may have on the tourism sector in the GCC countries, a statement issued by the GCC Secretariat General said.

The ministers announced the continuation of joint tourism initiatives and programs, and the strengthening of cooperation and integration between Gulf ministries and tourism authorities to ensure sustainable growth.

The Ministers stressed the keenness to ensure that these countries will remain safe and attractive destinations for global tourism, and that the GCC States, in light of the interest and keenness of their leaders and their continuous follow-up, continue to develop the Gulf tourism sector as one of the pillars of their sustainable economies, and one of the most important channels supporting economic prosperity and societal development.

They stressed that the tourism sector in the GCC countries continues its work, due to the advanced infrastructure, high operational efficiency, and a system of tourism services capable of maintaining the continuity of performance and the stability of the sector.

The ministers explained that several tourist destinations in the GCC countries continue to welcome their visitors, and that the facilities and services related to the sector operate in accordance with the approved operational frameworks, reflecting the level of readiness and support enjoyed by the Gulf tourism sector.
