OOC to take part in Asian Beach Games in China

MUSCAT: Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) will participate in the 6th Asian Beach Games (Sanya 2026), scheduled to take place in the People’s Republic of China from April 22 to 30, with representation in five sports: beach football, beach volleyball, beach handball, beach athletics, and modern triathlon (aquathlon).


OOC has completed all arrangements related to the participation, including the registration of athletic, administrative, and technical delegations, approval of final team rosters, and logistical coordination for travel, accommodation, and technical preparations, ensuring an effective and honourable participation that reflects the progress of Omani sport and its growing presence in continental competitions.


The official Sultanate of Oman delegation will be headed by Taha bin Suleiman al Kishry as Head of Delegation, accompanied by Khalifa bin Hamad al Jabri, OOC Board Member; Ishaq bin Abdullah al Balushi, Chef de Mission; Salim bin Mohammed al Rawahi, Delegation Administrator; Dr Sameh Naguib Ibrahim, Team Doctor; Samir bin Abdullah al Hamdani, Physiotherapist.

The competitions for Oman’s national beach soccer team will take place from April 22 to 30 at Yuhai Road Beach. The delegation consists of seven technical and administrative staff members and 12 players.


Oman’s national beach handball team includes five technical and administrative staff members and 10 players. Their competitions will be held from April 21 to 30 at the western gate of the Tianya Haijiao Tourist Area.


As for the national beach volleyball team, competitions will be held from April 23 to 29 at Haihong Square in Sanya Bay. The delegation comprises two players, one coach and one administrator.


The modern triathlon (aquathlon) events will take place along the Sanya Bay waterfront from April 23 to 25, with Oman represented by one athlete and one coach.


Meanwhile, Oman’s national beach athletics team includes five male athletes and two female athletes competing in the 60-meter sprint, high jump, long jump, and 4x60-metre relay, in addition to three technical and administrative staff members. Their competitions will be held at Phoenix Island Arena from April 23 to 26.

This participation reflects OOC commitment to maintaining a continuous presence in various continental sporting events in order to enhance the readiness of national teams, raise the level of technical exposure for athletes, and strengthen Oman’s sporting presence in international arenas, in line with efforts to develop the sports sector and achieve positive results in Asian competitions.


The 6th edition of the Asian Beach Games is considered one of the most prominent sporting events organised by the Olympic Council of Asia. Hosted by the Chinese city of Sanya from April 22 to 30, the opening ceremony is scheduled to be held at Yasha Park Theatre on April 22, while the closing ceremony will take place on April 30.


This edition will see the participation of 45 National Olympic Committees from across Asia. The Games program includes 14 sports and 15 different disciplines, comprising a total of 61 events, reflecting the diversity and development of beach sports across the continent.


The Games aim to promote the growth of beach sports, provide a competitive platform for athletes in an open-air environment, support cultural exchange among participating nations, and reinforce Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect, all within the distinctive sporting and tourism atmosphere offered by the host city.
