SUHAR: The Research and Innovation Authority on Tuesday announced at Sohar University the four qualifiers selected to represent the Sultanate of Oman at the International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX 2026), which will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia on May 18. The announcement ceremony was held under the auspices of Shaikh Dr Hilal bin Ali al Hinai, Deputy Chairman of the State Council.

The evaluation results for the competing projects resulted in the qualification of innovator Balqis al Hakmani for her project "Cardio-K," which is a smart closed-loop system for regulating potassium levels in heart patients, and innovator Nahiya al Hamdani, who developed "Sensiglass" spectacles to empower the blind and visually impaired through an integrated smart application. Also qualifying were innovator Zaher al Alawi for his project involving an advanced bio-therapeutic platform to accelerate the healing of diabetic wounds using bio-delivery techniques, and innovator Luqman al Dhafri for the "Guided Lens" project, which utilises AI-supported drones for automated and precise aircraft inspection. - ONA
