Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP), represented by the Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations, has warned of a fraudulent scheme involving fake Instagram accounts impersonating insurance companies.

In a statement, the ROP said that perpetrators are using these accounts to deceive individuals seeking to insure their property, with the intent of obtaining money through false claims.

Authorities have urged the public not to share personal or banking information or make any payments before verifying the credibility of such accounts and ensuring they belong to legitimate institutions and companies.

The ROP stressed the importance of vigilance and verifying official sources to avoid falling victim to online fraud.
