MUSCAT: A forum codenamed 'Tamkeen' (empowerment) kicked off in the Governorate of Muscat on Wednesday. The forum seeks to empower Omani human resources in the sectors of heritage and tourism.

The forum is organised by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MoHT) in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour (MoL) and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI).

The forum targets managers and personnel operating in the field of hospitality, tour operators and workers in hotel and tourism establishments. It seeks to promote effective communication between target sectors and related sectors, in addition to human resources departments and training departments.

The forum contributes to the realisation of strategic management in a bid to identify training needs and promote employees’ cooperation in implementing development programmes. It reflects the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism towards the regulation of the labour market and the generation of jobs for Omani human resources. It also seeks to achieve a localisation plan in the sectors of heritage and tourism in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

Tamkeen Forum will be organised in the governorates of Dhofar, Al Wusta, Al Dakhiliyah, Musandam, Al Batinah North, Al Batinah South, Al Sharqiyah North, Al Sharqiyah South, Al Buraimi and Al Dhahirah. - ONA
