MUSCAT: The Oman–Belarus Joint Committee convened its inaugural meeting in Muscat, marking a significant step towards advancing economic and investment ties between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Belarus.
The Omani delegation was led by Abdulsalam bin Mohammed al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority (OIA), while the Belarusian side was headed by Maxim Ryzhenkov, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting underscored both countries’ commitment to expanding bilateral cooperation and unlocking new partnership opportunities across key sectors, including industry, agriculture, healthcare and tourism. Discussions focused on enhancing trade exchanges, facilitating investment flows and aligning efforts with broader economic diversification objectives.
Al Murshidi said the launch of the Joint Committee reflects the depth of relations between the two nations and their shared ambition to elevate cooperation to more integrated levels. He noted that the platform will serve as a structured mechanism to foster long-term partnerships grounded in mutual economic interests.
He further emphasised Oman’s focus on strengthening global partnerships and attracting high-quality investments, highlighting Belarus as a strategic partner with strong potential to contribute to value creation across multiple sectors.
For his part, Ryzhenkov pointed to the complementary strengths of both countries, citing Belarus’s industrial capabilities and Oman’s competitive investment environment and advanced infrastructure. He stressed that this synergy creates tangible opportunities for building strategic partnerships that deliver mutual economic benefits.
He also highlighted the importance of improving connectivity and business mobility, noting that initiatives such as facilitating travel, introducing direct air links, easing visa procedures and enhancing diplomatic presence would support deeper engagement between the two sides.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation, promoting knowledge exchange and supporting sustainable development goals, while strengthening their presence in regional and global economic networks.
