MUSCAT: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has launched the “Oman Maritime Portal”, a unified digital platform designed to deliver more than 90 electronic maritime services. The initiative aims to accelerate procedures, enhance user experience, and significantly reduce reliance on paperwork and manual transactions.
The platform is also intended to strengthen integration with government and private sector entities, offering secure and reliable digital services. It will support decision-making through advanced dashboards and analytical reporting tools, while contributing to national workforce development through training and knowledge transfer initiatives.
Implementation will take place in six phases. The first phase introduces 13 core services, including vessel and marine unit registration, issuance and renewal of navigation permits, registration and mortgage certificates, release documentation, and inspection requests. The system is integrated with multiple stakeholders, including the Royal Oman Police, the Oman Business Platform, relevant ministries and government entities, as well as private sector partners.
The portal provides a single electronic gateway for maritime and port-related services, improving efficiency and accessibility for users. This reflects the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to advancing digital transformation and delivering high-quality public services.
A key feature is its comprehensive dashboard, which enables real-time monitoring of system performance. It presents data on application status, key performance indicators, and recent transactions, supported by advanced filtering and search functions. This enhances oversight, strengthens follow-up mechanisms, and simplifies operational management.
By digitising maritime and logistics services, the platform facilitates faster processing and easier access through integrated channels. It offers a seamless user experience and is expected to improve overall beneficiary satisfaction.
The launch aligns with the Ministry’s broader strategy to upgrade maritime and logistics services while accelerating digital transformation across the sector, ensuring efficient, high-quality service delivery for citizens, businesses and government stakeholders. — ONA
