

Muscat: The ongoing weather system is expected to gradually weaken from Saturday evening in the northern governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, but will continue with some rains in the Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates and the southern parts of the South Sharqiyah governorate overlooking the Arabian Sea until Sunday morning.
The governorates of orth Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, Ad Dhahirah, South Al Batinah, Ad Dakhiliyah, Muscat, and Musandam received thunderstorms accompanied by hail and active downdrafts in the governorates on Friday, leading to water accumulation in the low-lying areas of the capital and overflowing wadis elsewhere.
The Civil Aviation Authority urged everyone to take precautions during thunderstorms, avoid crossing wadis, stay away from low-lying areas, and refrain from going to sea during the warning period.
Abdullah bin Rashid al Khadhuri, Director General of the Directorate General of Meteorology, CAA, "The weather will gradually stabilize, as indicated in the last issued by the Oman Meteorology across the northern governorates. The impact will remain moderate to strong over the Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates and the southern parts of South Sharqiyah. There is also a chance of scattered rain showers this evening over the Eastern Hajar Mountains.The weather system will dissipate and leave the Sultanate of Oman on Sunday, although scattered rain showers will still be possible over Dhofar.
