Hilal bin Salem bin Saeed Al-Hajri, head of the forecasts, said,  "The chances of rainfall remain ongoing today over the northern governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. The weather condition is expected to gradually subside starting from the evening of tomorrow, Saturday."

94 mm was recorded at Shinas station, 72 mm at Al-Sinainah station, and 64 mm in Al Buraimi Governorate.

Thunderstorm cells are concentrated over Musandam Governorate, North Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, South Al Sharqiyah, and Dhofar.

Citizens and residents have been urged to report any outages through the approved call centers to expedite service restoration: Electricity: (1011) and  Water and Sanitation: (1443).

The governorates of Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, North Al Sharqiyah, and South Al Sharqiyah received rainfall of varying intensity, accompanied by active descending winds.

Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, Musandam, and parts of Al Dhahirah received torrential rain in the early hours of Friday.

"Most of the northern governorates are affected by this weather system, causing wadis and streams to overflow. In the coming hours, the effects of this weather system will be felt in North and South Al Batinah, and also Muscat, Al Dakhiliyah, and Al Dhahirah. Clouds are still forming and developing in the coming hours, and may affect these governorates again. In the coming hours, some areas may experience hail," said Yunus bin Bakhit al Riyami, the met specialist at the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

"The rain is still ongoing, and there is still a chance of rain today. Tomorrow, Al Wusta and Dhofar Governorates may be affected. Follow the updates from official sources."

As there are chances of flowing wadis, people are urged to be alert and cautious.

Royal Oman Police (ROP) has said that crossing wadis during rains despite warnings remains the most dangerous and most repeated behavior of the people.
