Muscat: With unstable weather conditions affecting various parts of the country, authorities have underscored the importance of adhering to general safety precautions to protect lives and property.

Members of the public are advised to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary movement during periods of heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds. Staying indoors is strongly recommended unless absolutely necessary, while avoiding open areas, tall trees and unsecured structures that may pose a risk during adverse conditions.

Caution has also been urged around low-lying areas and wadis, where sudden flooding may occur. Residents are encouraged not to attempt crossing flooded roads or valleys, regardless of water depth, due to the sudden overflow.

At the workplace level, precautionary measures remain essential, particularly for outdoor activities. Suspending work in exposed locations or at heights during deteriorating weather conditions is critical to ensuring worker safety. Equipment and materials should be properly secured to prevent displacement by strong winds, while hazardous areas must be clearly marked and restricted.

Electrical safety is another key priority, with the need to protect power sources, cables and equipment from water exposure.

. Meanwhile, authorities also highlight the importance of following emergency procedures, identifying safe routes for movement, and reporting any potential hazards promptly.

Public awareness and preparedness continue to be central in reducing risks, with collective responsibility playing a vital role in ensuring safety during periods of adverse weather.
