Muscat: Mwasalat has announced the temporary suspension of a number of its bus routes in light of prevailing weather conditions, based on alerts issued by the relevant authorities, and as part of efforts to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers.

The suspended city routes include Route 6 (Al Khoud–Sultan Qaboos University–Al Khoud), Route 7 (Al Mabelah–Al Khoud–Burj Al Sahwa), Route 9 (Al Athaiba–Al Ansab–Misfah Industrial Area), and Route 10 (Al Mabelah–Seeb Souq–Burj Al Sahwa).

Intercity services scheduled for Thursday, March 26, 2026, have also been affected. These include Route 52 (Muscat–Duqm), Route 53 (Muscat–Ibri–Buraimi), and Route 103 (Muscat–Haima–Duqm).

Mwasalat stated that the continuation of both city and intercity services will be assessed in line with weather developments, in coordination with the relevant authorities. It added that passengers will be informed of any further suspensions through its Contact Centre should additional directives be issued.

With regard to ferry operations, the Shannah–Masirah route will continue to operate as usual.

According to the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, more than five million passengers used Mwasalat’s regular public bus services in 2025. The company currently operates 12 routes in Muscat and two in Salalah, playing a vital role in both city and intercity transport despite the dominance of private vehicles.
