MUSCAT: Oman will celebrate the first day of Eid Al Fitr today (Friday), the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs confirmed on Thursday evening. The announcement followed the meeting of the moon-sighting committee under the chairmanship of Dr Mohammed bin Said al Maamari, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, which convened to observe the Shawwal crescent and determine the end of the holy month of Ramadhan. The ministry extended its greetings to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, citizens, residents and the wider Islamic world on the occasion. - ONA
