MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) continues its efforts to enhance security and stability across the Sultanate of Oman. ROP’s units started implementing security and preventative plans for the Eid Al Fitr holidays to ensure a safe environment for citizens and residents. The ROP will intensify patrols and enhance operational readiness and will utilise modern technologies to monitor security conditions during the holidays.

Brig Jamal bin Habib al Quraishi, Director-General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigation at ROP, said that the Royal Oman Police intensifies its efforts and strengthens its security presence across the Sultanate of Oman during official holidays and religious occasions. Maintaining security and stability during holidays is achieved through deploying patrols in neighbourhoods and residential areas, reinforcing checkpoints and activating preventative security measures.

He noted that coordination takes place between various police units to follow up on reports and handle them swiftly and efficiently. In addition, modern technological systems and operations rooms are utilised to monitor the security situation around the clock to maintain security and public order and protect people and properties, adding that these efforts enhance the sense of security among citizens and residents.

Al Quraishi advises families who leave their homes during the Eid holidays to take preventative measures. They should ensure that doors and windows are securely locked and avoid leaving valuables in visible or easily accessible places. They also have to request a trusted relative or neighbour to take care of their house during their absence and to remove advertisements from the doorsteps. Additionally, modern home security technologies such as high-quality surveillance cameras and alarm and burglar protection systems should be activated and passwords should be changed regularly.

Brig Jamal bin Habib al Quraishi, Director-General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigation at ROP, stressed the importance of avoiding negative behaviours that pose risks to public safety and security, such as firing weapons and using fireworks. He urged parents to watch their children and advise them against purchasing and using fireworks, especially in residential areas.
