MUSCAT: The Public Prosecution commended citizens and residents for their sense of responsibility and respect for laws and regulations which contribute to maintaining public order and enhancing security.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Public Prosecution stressed the importance of preserving public peace and the security of citizens and residents, urging everyone to adhere to applicable regulations and laws and to refrain from any acts that could affect public order, disturb people or endanger their safety.

The statement said that it has been observed recently that some individuals have been using fireworks, particularly in residential areas. Additionally, some people install substandard exhaust systems on their vehicles and drive them on the roads, resulting in loud noises that disrupt community tranquillity.

This act constitutes a violation of Article (25) of the Weapons and Ammunition Law and Article (49), paragraphs (5) and (7) of the Traffic Law.

In light of these practices, the Public Prosecution said it is committed to taking decisive legal action against the perpetrators, bringing them to justice, and demanding the imposition of the most severe penalties prescribed by law. — ONA
