The Sultanate of Oman will be the home of the Museum of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) biography, an effort by the nation to spread the teachings, lifestyle and biography of the great leader for future generations.
The museum, which will be located in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, aims to showcase the historical connections between Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Oman, engage younger generations with the Prophet’s life and values, and serve as an interactive knowledge hub for Islamic information and education.
As a first step, the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs will host the inauguration ceremony for the Endowment Foundation of the Museum. The event will be held under the auspices of Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, in the presence of Dr Mohammed bin Said al Maamari, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, on March 16, at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.
“The Museum of the Prophet’s Biography is a flagship cultural project that is based on sustainable development, stronger community partnerships, investment in religious resources, and the promotion of moderation and citizenship values. The project is expected to attract attention worldwide,” a department spokesperson said.
The iconic museum will serve as an interactive educational hub, utilising modern technology to showcase the life and values of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It will highlight the historical relationship between the Prophet's life and Oman, aiming to enhance cultural, religious and social awareness.
The initiative aligns with Oman’s focus on fostering Islamic values and is part of a broader development of endowment projects in the country. This project is part of a series of strategic developments aimed at enhancing religious and cultural infrastructure in Oman, often in collaboration with various public and private sectors.
The project will have a distinct identity from the international chain of museums operated by the Muslim World League, although it shares similar goals of promoting the Prophet's biography.
