MUSCAT: Total electricity production in the Sultanate of Oman rose by 14.6 per cent by the end of January 2026, reaching 3,256.5 gigawatt-hours (GWh) compared with 2,841.5 GWh during the same period last year, according to preliminary data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Net electricity production — which includes output purchased by the Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and the Rural Areas Electricity Company — also recorded solid growth.

The data showed that net production increased by 13.9 per cent to 3,132.6 GWh at the end of January 2026, up from 2,749.2 GWh in January 2025.

The increase reflects continued growth in electricity demand alongside the expansion of generation capacity across the Sultanate of Oman as the country advances its energy transition and infrastructure development programmes. — ONA
