MoH issues urgent appeal for blood donation amid severe shortage

The Ministry of Health (MoH) issued an urgent appeal for blood donations following a severe shortage in blood unit stocks across the Sultanate.

In a statement, the ministry said it is in critical need of more than 200 donors daily during the current period to ensure the uninterrupted supply of blood units for various medical cases.

“Due to the severe shortage in blood unit stock, we urgently call upon you to donate blood today,” the statement said, urging members of the public to take the initiative and donate at designated locations.

Donation Locations and Timings

  • Central Blood Bank – Bausher: Open daily from 7:00 pm to 11:30 pm.


  • Seeb Blood Donation Center: Open from Sunday to Thursday, 7:00 pm to 11:30 pm.


For non-fasting donors, blood donation services are available at:

  • Central Blood Bank – Bausher: Sunday to Thursday, 8:00 am to 12:30 pm.


Additionally, special blood donation campaigns will be held on the 14th of Ramadan from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm at:

  • Al Bari School for Teaching the Holy Quran – Al Maabilah

The Department of Blood Bank Services has called on all eligible donors to support the national effort and help safeguard the continuity of lifesaving medical treatments.
