DIBBA: The Musandam Governorate takes on a distinctive spiritual and social character during Ramadhan, shaped by its dramatic landscape of rugged mountains and expansive seas.
Across its wilayats — Khasab, Bukha, Dibba and Madha — the month unfolds in an atmosphere of faith, solidarity and time-honoured customs deeply rooted in the governorate’s marine and mountainous environment.
Residents say Ramadhan in Musandam reflects strong social cohesion and a close connection to nature, where spiritual tranquillity blends seamlessly with inherited traditions passed down through generations. Musab bin Ahmed al Shehhi, a resident of Dibba, highlighted one of the most prominent Ramadhan customs in the governorate: preparing and donating Iftar meals at mosques for those fasting. “Communal Iftar tables are arranged before Maghrib prayer in a scene that embodies generosity, compassion and social solidarity,” he said. — ONA
