The second week of the inaugural Oman Logistics Academy Higher Education Institutions Championship ‘Koorathon’ continued with competitive Group B matches, reflecting the rising standard and determination among participating teams to secure qualification for the next stage.
Muscat University were held to a 0-0 draw by Oman Tourism College in a tactically disciplined contest. Both sides exchanged attacking attempts, but solid defensive organisation and an impressive goalkeeping display ensured the match ended without goals, with each team earning a point.
In the second fixture, Sultan Qaboos University recorded a 2-1 win over the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) to consolidate their position at the top of the group.
Sultan al Alawi gave UTAS the lead with a powerful first-half strike, before SQU responded after the break, with Malik al Kathiri scoring the decisive goal following sustained pressure.
The result marks the second defeat for UTAS, complicating their qualification hopes, while Abdullah bin Muslih al Alawi was named man of the Match for his standout performance.
It is worth noting that the championship is being held at Goal One Stadium in Al Athaiba and is organised by the Oman Logistics Academy in cooperation with the Oman University Sports Committee.
The tournament features 10 higher education institutions: Oman Logistics Academy (Team A and Team B), Nizwa University, Sultan Qaboos University, Muscat University, Oman Tourism College, the University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Middle East College, the German University of Technology in Oman and Majan University College.
