MUSCAT: The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) will review the priorities of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) during its second Ramadhan evening gathering on March 2, 2026, as part of efforts to align the private sector with the next phase of national growth.

The event, to be held under the auspices of Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, seeks to broaden dialogue on economic development targets and reinforce private sector readiness in line with Oman Vision 2040.

Discussions will focus on the Plan’s strategic objectives, particularly economic diversification, enhancement of the business environment and expansion of high value-added industries. Emphasis will also be placed on smart manufacturing, digital transformation and the deployment of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, across public and private entities.

Tourism diversification will form a key pillar of the dialogue, with attention to transitioning towards high-quality and sustainable tourism offerings. Infrastructure development and national talent building across productive and service sectors will also be addressed to strengthen public-private partnerships and increase the private sector’s contribution to GDP.

Faisal bin Abdullah al Rawas, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), said the Chamber aims to provide a platform bringing together decision-makers, experts and business leaders to examine the Plan’s priorities and identify growth opportunities. He noted that the outcomes of the session are expected to support effective implementation during the upcoming phase.

A panel discussion will feature HH Dr Adham bin Turki al Said, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Economic Studies and Research Centre at OCCI; Eng Ahmed bin Hassan al Dheeb, Deputy Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones; Dr Nasser bin Rashid al Maawali, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Economy; Dr Ali bin Amer al Shaithani, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology; and Azzan bin Qasim al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism for Tourism.

The initiative reflects the Chamber’s continued role in fostering structured engagement between the government and private sector to ensure that the Eleventh Five-Year Plan translates strategic objectives into measurable economic gains. — ONA
