

The 23rd edition of the Ghazi Ramadan Championship 2026 continued at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Sur Sports Complex, drawing impressive crowds and maintaining the vibrant sporting atmosphere that has become a hallmark of Ramadan nights. The tournament, supported by Oman LNG and organised by the Department of Culture, Sports and Youth in Sur, continues to reinforce its status as one of the most prominent community sporting events in the region.
Tuesday’s fixtures featured intense clashes across Groups 1 to 4, marked by excitement and a flurry of goals.
In Group 1, Mubadara Qalhat Healthy Village maintained their strong form with a well deserved 3–1 victory over the Directorate of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources. Rashid al Shuaibi opened the scoring, while Ahmed al Shuaibi netted twice. Sanad al Rashdi scored the consolation goal for the Directorate.
In Group 2, the Public Authority for Charitable Works secured a confident 2–0 win over the Vocational College. Meshari al Araimi and Ammar al Hashemi found the net to earn their side a valuable three points.
Group 3 witnessed the highest-scoring match of the day as Madayn delivered a dominant 6–1 triumph over Omifco. Ali bin Juma al Araimi starred with a hat-trick, Ahmed bin Nasser al Mukhaini added two goals and Omar bin Abdulaziz al Araimi completed the tally. Yousuf bin Nasser al Alawi scored Omifco’s lone goal.
Meanwhile, Group 4 produced a thrilling 3–3 draw between Al Talea and Oman Sailing. Adel Khamis al Farsi struck twice and Mohammed bin Ibrahim al Alawi added one for Al Talea, while Mubarak al Bahlouli scored once and Juma Naseeb netted twice for Oman Sailing in a pulsating contest.
The excitement carried into Wednesday’s matches, covering Groups 5 to 8, where attacking prowess was once again on display.
SMASHING WIN
In Group 5, University of Sur for Technology and Applied Sciences delivered a commanding 7–0 victory over Sur Hospital, dominating proceedings from start to finish and sending a strong message to their rivals.
Group 6 saw the Directorate General of Health Services overcome Sohar International with a convincing 5–1 win, controlling the tempo throughout the match.
In Group 7, Omantel secured a 4–2 victory over the Roads Department in a competitive encounter that remained balanced before Omantel pulled away in the latter stages.
Finally, in Group 8, the Directorate of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion defeated Sur Club 4–2 in a fast-paced match characterised by end-to-end action, underlining their determination to compete for qualification.
The results from both match-days reflected the rising competitive intensity of the championship. Beyond the pursuit of silverware, the Ghazi Ramadan Championship continues to promote community engagement and strengthen institutional ties, reaffirming its role as a key sporting and social platform in Sur during the holy month of Ramadan.
