

Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) celebrated the arrival of the cruise ship Aroya on its first visit to the Sultanate of Oman. The ship visited the Port Sultan Qaboos in Muscat and Khasab Port in Musandam, signaling the start of its first season in the Arabian Gulf.
Its arrival marked the growing regional cooperation in the cruise tourism sector and enhanced the Sultanate of Oman’s position as a distinguished maritime destination in the region.
The addition of Muscat and Khasab to Aroya Cruises' itineraries allows tourists to explore the geographical and cultural diversity that characterizes the Sultanate of Oman, from historical landmarks and stunning natural scenery in the governorates of Muscat and Musandam, which enhances the visitor experience, extends their stay, and increases their tourist spending.
Khaled bin Mohammed al Azri, Director of the Department of Tourist Patterns at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, said: “The arrival of the cruise ship Aroya Cruises in Muscat and Khasab reflects the growing cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, which is in line with the desired efforts to develop the cruise tourism sector.”
He added: “Aroya Cruises’ focus on Arab culture is an ideal platform to attract tourists to discover the beauty of Omani nature and hospitality, and we look forward to a continued partnership that highlights our strengths and heritage to the world.”
Lars Claassen, CEO of Cruise-Saudi and President of Aroya Cruises, said: “Our arrival in the Sultanate of Oman marks a significant moment for Aroya Cruises, as Oman’s stunning natural beauty and rich culture form the foundation of the Arabian experience we offer our guests.” He emphasized that this stop represents a pivotal step towards building an integrated cruise system that strengthens ties between the Gulf countries and celebrates their shared heritage.
He added: On board the ship, tourists enjoy the unique Aroya experience with its Arabian character, where the spirit of Arabian hospitality is embodied in every detail of the journey to offer an unforgettable maritime experience.
Aroya's season in the Arabian Gulf runs from February 21 to May 8, and includes a variety of programs ranging from short two-night trips to seven-night cruises, passing through Dubai, Sir Bani Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, Doha, as well as Muscat and Khasab, allowing guests a comprehensive experience to discover the most prominent cities and coastlines of the Gulf.
