Muscat, Feb 23

Samayil secured a resounding 4-0 victory against hosts Saham in a match held at the Sohar Sports Complex as part of the 15th round of the Jindal Football League.

Saham began the first half with relative superiority, but a lack of positional discipline among some players reduced their effectiveness. Despite creating several chances, they failed to convert any of them. Samayil, meanwhile, capitalised on limited opportunities and received an early 'gift' in the 13th minute when Marwan al Ghafri scored an own goal, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead at the half-time.

At the start of the second half, Saham attempted to respond, making two substitutions by introducing Ali al Hashemi and Osama al Balushi. However, Samayil struck again in the 59th minute through a penalty converted by Musab al Lamki following a VAR review, after Saeed al Ruzaiqi was pushed by the goalkeeper from a Bashar al Maharbi cross. Saham pressed forward but was denied by Samayil’s solid defence and the standout performance of goalkeeper Alaa al Hamadani. Substitute Osama al Zaabi sealed the result with a powerful long-range strike in the 84th minute before adding a fourth goal with a header from Badr al Jabri’s cross in the 90th minute.

With this win, Samayil moved up to 14 points in ninth place, while Saham remained on 16 points in eighth.

Sur secured a 2-1 victory over Bahla at the Sur Sports Complex.

SUR EDGE BAHLA

At Sur Sports Complex, the home side secured a 2-1 victory over Bahla in Round 15, earning an important boost in the standings.

Ayman Ibrahim and Abdulrahman al Muqaimi scored for Sur, while Qasim al Salmi netted Bahla’s lone goal. The win lifted Sur to 12 points in 12th place, while Bahla stayed sixth with 25 points.

GOALLESS DRAW

Dhofar and Sohar shared the points in a 0-0 draw at Al Saada Sports Complex in the final matches of Round 15 of the Jindal League, despite several chances and periods of high tempo.

The first half featured opportunities for both sides, including an early header from Atikor that was saved by Mazin al Kasbi. Mazin al Saadi also came close for Sohar, while Dhofar threatened through Mohammed al Araimi and Hamood al Saadi. Before half-time, Sohar missed a penalty as Dwayne Carl Mokit sent his effort over the bar.

In the second half, Sohar held a slight edge, with Al Kasbi producing key saves. Dhofar were reduced to 10 men in the 69th minute after Mohammed bin Mubarak al Najashi was sent off. Despite Sohar’s pressure, neither side found the breakthrough, and a late chance for substitute Rashid Abdulhamid went begging.

The draw lifted Sohar to 30 points in fourth place, while Dhofar moved to 14 points in tenth.
