MUSCAT: Domestic mail shipments rose to 4.38 million in 2025, up from 1.52 million in 2021, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) said during a media briefing, citing postal sector statistics. The increase represents cumulative growth of about 188% over the period.
International inbound mail climbed to 3.03 million shipments in 2025 from 0.94 million in 2021, a cumulative rise of around 222%, though it eased from 3.24 million in 2024, the TRA said.
International outbound mail totalled 435,000 shipments in 2025, up from 346,000 in 2021 — a cumulative gain of about 26% — with a slight dip from 437,000 in 2024.
The TRA also reported total revenues of licensed postal services companies at around RO 29.5 million in 2025 (unaudited), compared with RO 16.27 million in 2021 — a cumulative increase of about 81%. Revenues were RO 31.1 million in 2024.
The number of licensed postal services companies rose to 87 in 2025, up from 24 in 2021, the TRA said.
