MUNICH: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, participated in the Munich Security Conference in Germany on February 13 and 14. The foreign minister held a number of bilateral meetings to exchange views on current issues and developments, and to explore ways to support efforts to establish security and peace through dialogue, legal and diplomatic frameworks, and respect for the sovereignty of states and the rights stipulated by international law.

The consultations focused on key current issues related to the Iranian-American talks on Iran’s nuclear programme, the situation in Gaza and the Palestinian cause, the conflict in Ukraine, the crises in Yemen and Sudan, the situations in Lebanon and Syria, maritime navigation, and the need to ensure a safe and smooth flow of international trade. They also addressed economic, climate, and humanitarian challenges, as well as the importance of advancing reforms to international organisations and the Security Council to ensure fair representation of states and regional groups particularly those from the Global South. The discussions also included follow-up on existing bilateral relations and cooperation programmes with the Sultanate of Oman.
