Trophy tour concludes as fans brace for title clash

MUSCAT: The trophy tour of His Majesty the Sultan’s Cup trophy tour concluded on Friday after touring the wilayats of Muscat Governorate for six days, drawing wide public attendance ahead of the 55th edition final.


The current trophy, designed in 2013, was crafted using gold and silver. It weighs 16 kg and is 60 cm tall, with a design inspired by the red and green colours of the Sultanate of Oman’s flag.


Organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and the Oman Football Association, the tour aimed to enhance sports and community engagement.


While reinforcing the symbolism of the trophy as the nation’s most prestigious domestic competition. It also provided various segments of society the opportunity to see the trophy up close.


The journey began in Muttrah on February 7 with a classic car parade from Muttrah Gate along the sea road and through Muttrah Souq, alongside traditional chants, artistic performances, visits to Al Saidiya School and Muttrah Fort, as well as paragliding displays and evening entertainment.


In Bausher on February 8, the programme featured an official reception at the Wali’s Office with scouting bands, visits to schools and the Royal Hospital; and activities at Bait Al Falaj and Al Ghubra Beach Park, concluding at Bausher Club.


Muscat hosted the tour on February 9, including visits to landmarks and a sea voyage from Bandar Al Rowdha to Al Khairan via Yiti and Al Bustan.


Al Seeb followed on February 10 with receptions, visits to Sultan Qaboos University and Al Seeb Fort; and a concluding ceremony at Sultan Haitham City.


Al Amerat welcomed the trophy on February 11 with community and youth activities.


Qurayat concluded the tour on February 12 with waterfront cultural and sporting events.


The Fans Village, held from February 10 to 13 at Al Khuwair Square, featured a trophy corner, photo exhibition, handicrafts, youth and children’s zones, games, folk arts, competitions, prizes and food outlets.


Inside the stadium, fans will also have the chance to enter prize draws for three cars and several mobile phones.
