New section of Sultan Turki bin Said road opens

The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT), in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police (ROP), on Thursday opened a new section of the Sultan Turki bin Said Road dual carriageway project (Phase Two - Part Two), extending from the Wilayat of Al Kamil Wal Wafi to the Wilayat of Sur. "


The 9-kilometer stretch begins in the Al Falij area, passing over the Wadi Bridge and the Al Falij vehicle tunnel, then continues through the Qasa area to the Al Rafsa area in the Wilayat of Sur.

Munir bin Ahmed al Alawi, Director of the Roads Department in the South Sharqiyah Governorate, said that the road consists of three lanes in each direction, each 3.75 meters wide, with 2.5-meter-wide outer asphalt shoulders and 1.5-meter-wide inner shoulders.

He explained that the road has been equipped with all traffic safety requirements, including iron barriers, directional and warning signs, in addition to securing the sides of the road and tunnels, which enhances the safety of its users.
