AL RUSTAQ: The University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) – College of Education in Al Rustaq – signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Green Line Training Institute, reinforcing collaboration between the academic and vocational training sectors to qualify specialised national cadres.

The agreement aims to implement a package of professional training programmes targeting future teachers, university employees and members of the local community.

The memorandum establishes a collaborative framework to provide students and trainees with accredited industrial professional licences issued by government and private-sector entities. It also includes the implementation of Oman Energy Association (OPAL) programmes to enhance occupational health and safety (HSE) standards and technical competencies.

In addition, the agreement provides for the establishment of a joint professional testing centre at the College of Education in Al Rustaq. The centre will serve as an accredited platform for skills assessment in Al Batinah South Governorate. The cooperation also includes the launch of a Professional Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, offered by the institute as an applied programme designed to strengthen technical capabilities and link educational outcomes with modern mechanical applications.

Dr Walid bin Zaher al Shaqsi, Head of the Support and Sponsorship Team, said the cooperation focuses on delivering quality professional qualification programmes in operation, maintenance and industrial safety in line with National Occupational Standards (NOS) and OPAL-certified courses in occupational health, safety and energy sector fundamentals.

The memorandum was signed on behalf of UTAS Rustaq by Dr Sarah bint Mohammed al Bahlani, Dean of the College, while Mohammed bin Salem al Rashdi, Executive Director of the Green Line Training Institute, signed on behalf of the institute. — ONA
