Electricity output records steady growth

MUSCAT: Oman’s total electricity production reached 51,612.3 gigawatt-hours (GWh) in 2025, up about 5 per cent from 49,132.0 GWh in 2024, according to preliminary data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information.


Net electricity production, including output procured by Oman Power and Water Procurement Company and the Rural Areas Electricity Company, rose 4.4 per cent to 50,160.6 GWh.


In contrast, water production declined 1.9 per cent to 509.9 million cubic metres. Muscat Governorate recorded a 12.5 per cent decline to 204.1 million cubic metres, while Dhofar production increased 2.7 per cent to 76.2 million cubic metres. Output in other governorates rose 8.2 per cent to 229.6 million cubic metres. — ONA
