MUSCAT: Total electricity production in the Sultanate of Oman climbed a significant 9 per cent by the end of July 2025 to reach 30,239.3 gigawatt hours (GWh), compared to 27,746.9 GWh during the same period in 2024.


Preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicated that the electricity production in the Sultanate of Oman — which includes power purchases by the Nama Power and Water Procurement Company; and purchases by the Rural Areas Electricity Company — rose by 8.7 per cent to reach 29,308.6 GWh by the end of last July, compared to 26,972.2 GWh during the same period of the previous year.


On the other hand, the total water production dipped 0.8 per cent to reaching 298.938 million m3, compared to 301.242 million m3 in the same period of 2024. Muscat Governorate posted an 8.1 per cent drop in production, reaching 122.390 million m3 compared to 133.192 million m3 during the same period last year. Dhofar Governorate reported a 3 per cent decline in output, reaching 43.927 million m3. Water production in the remaining governorates also increased by 5.8 per cent, recording 298.938 million m3, compared to 301.242 million m3 as of end-July 2025. — ONA
