Countries praise Oman for hosting crucial US-Iran talks

Muscat: Jassim Mohammed al Budaiwi, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, praised the Sultanate of Oman for hosting the talks between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman’s hosting of the talks reflects the constructive role it plays in supporting regional and international understanding and dialogue.

He praised the valuable and continuous efforts made by the Sultanate of Oman, in cooperation with several friendly countries, to bring the two sides closer together and create a suitable atmosphere for constructive dialogue, thereby serving the stability of the region and enhancing the chances of peace. He emphasized the GCC countries' commitment to maintaining stability and security in the region and supporting the prosperity of its peoples.

Al Budaiwi expressed the Council’s hope that these consultations will yield positive results that contribute to strengthening de-escalation and consolidating the foundations of security and stability in the region, in a way that achieves common interests and enhances the environment of cooperation and development.

UAE

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) welcomed the announcement of talks between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Sultanate of Oman, affirming that this positive step reflects efforts to support dialogue and de-escalation.


In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its appreciation for the efforts of the Sultanate of Oman in creating a conducive environment for dialogue, commending the Sultanate for hosting these talks as a step that reflects its constructive role in supporting understanding and dialogue at the regional and international levels, and in promoting security and stability in the region.


The UAE reiterated its belief that promoting dialogue, de-escalation, adherence to international law, and respect for the sovereignty of states are the best foundations for addressing current crises, emphasizing its steadfast approach of resolving disputes through diplomatic means.


The UAE expressed its hope that these consultations will yield positive results that contribute to de-escalation and strengthen the foundations of security and stability in the region, thereby supporting regional and international peace.  

UN Secretary-General

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed the resumption of talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America in Muscat.

The UN Secretary-General expressed his gratitude to the Sultanate of Oman and the countries of the region for their efforts in making these talks a success, expressing his hope that they would contribute to reducing regional tensions and avoiding a wider crisis.

The Secretary-General called for continued efforts to reduce tensions and peacefully resolve disputes in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations, and stressed the need to address all concerns through peaceful dialogue.

Jordan

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan welcomed the holding of negotiations between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran in Muscat.

The official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Fouad Majali, affirmed the Kingdom’s aspiration that these negotiations will lead to a comprehensive agreement that achieves the interests of both parties and enhances security and stability in the region.

He expressed the Kingdom’s full appreciation for the role of the Sultanate of Oman in hosting the negotiations, and its support for the efforts of brotherly and friendly countries aimed at reducing escalation, achieving calm in the region, and finding peaceful solutions through diplomacy and dialogue.

Kuwait

The State of Kuwait on Friday welcomed the Oman-hosted negotiations held between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In a press release, the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed hope that these negotiations would lead to a comprehensive agreement that contributes to achieving the interests of both parties and maintaining regional security and stability.


The ministry reiterated its support for all the appreciated and praiseworthy efforts led by the Sultanate of Oman and several other sisterly and friendly countries to facilitate US-Iran negotiations and promote opportunities for constructive dialogue aimed at ensuring regional stability. 

Egypt

Egypt has reaffirmed its full support for the resumption of negotiations between the United States and Iran through the meeting being held today in Muscat, under the mediation of the Sultanate of Oman.

In a statement, Egypt's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Cairo's backing of efforts aimed at de-escalation and reaching a peaceful and sustainable settlement to the Iranian nuclear file comes in line with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.


The statement stressed that the core of these efforts must be based on creating a conducive atmosphere founded on goodwill and mutual respect, enabling the swift conclusion of a lasting agreement and sparing the region the risks of military escalation, whose catastrophic consequences would affect all countries in the region.

The ministry emphasized that there are no military solutions to the Iranian nuclear issue, noting that dialogue and negotiations remain the only viable path forward, in a manner that takes into account the interests of all concerned parties. It affirmed that Egypt will continue to support efforts aimed at reaching an agreement on the Iranian nuclear file, in coordination with its regional partners, in a way that serves the interests of both negotiating sides and the region as a whole.

The statement specifically commended the constructive efforts undertaken by Qatar, Turkiye, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan in this regard, expressing Egypt's hope that these sincere endeavors will lead to a positive breakthrough that enhances prospects for stability and peace in the region.

The ministry also underscored the importance of strengthening international efforts to address nuclear non-proliferation risks in the region comprehensively, including support for the establishment of a Middle East free of nuclear weapons without exception, the universalization of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) in the region, and the application of comprehensive safeguards by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to all nuclear facilities.
