MUSCAT: The second edition of 'Part of the Movement' takes place on Friday, February 13, bringing together children, families and local entrepreneurs for a day of fitness, fun and community engagement.
The event at Local's Park, Hayy A'Sarooj, will feature an exciting kids’ obstacle race alongside vibrant stalls from local vendors, highlighting the growing culture of youth fitness and family play in Oman.
This year’s festival is proudly led by two inspiring Omani female athletes namely Daniya al Mahruqy, a one-time West Asian Champion Weightlifter and founder of Fit Me Up and Shams al Khonji, Oman National Team Basketball Player and founder of Local’s Park.
Their vision emphasises the fusion of sport, community empowerment and entrepreneurial spirit.
Organisers highlighted that the festival not only promotes fitness among young children but also serves as a platform to inspire the next generation of Omani athletes and entrepreneurs. Interviews with event patrons, athletes and vendors underscored the community-driven nature of the initiative and its positive impact on local youth.
Building on the success of last year’s event, this edition attracted sponsorship from Omantel, KIMS Hospital and other local partners, reflecting the rise of female-led initiatives and homegrown entrepreneurship. Participants can enjoy a range of challenges designed to test agility and teamwork, while families can explore interactive stalls and activities.
