

DOHA: Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal al Busaidy, Minister of Interior, on Wednesday attended the conclusion of the joint tactical exercise ‘Arabian Gulf Security 4’, held in the State of Qatar. The event was attended by the GCC interior ministers.
The Sultanate of Oman participated in the exercise with a force from the Royal Oman Police, the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, and the Medical City for Military and Security Services. This participation falls within the framework of enhancing the joint Gulf security work system and elevating levels of field coordination and integration among the GCC security agencies.
Sayyid Hamoud was received by Shaikh Khalifa bin Hamad al Thani, Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya).
The concluding exercise included a demonstration of rapid intervention operations and countering potential security threats, along with precise simulations of counter-terrorism scenarios, protection of vital installations and crisis management. Throughout these demonstrations, the security units displayed exceptional speed of response and meticulous coordination among various formations.
The exercise, which involved Gulf security agencies and forces as well as specialised security units from the United States of America, aimed to elevate the level of security preparedness, enhance field integration and coordination, and test the efficiency of operational plans and response mechanisms. This reflects the high professionalism and advanced capability the Gulf security agencies have achieved in dealing with various security challenges.
The exercise, which lasted 11 days, involved the execution of over 70 training scenarios, amounting to more than 260 hours of intensive field training.
Earlier on Wednesday, Sayyid Hamoud arrived in Doha. He was received by Sayyid Ammar bin Abdullah al Busaidy, Ambassador of Oman to Qatar.
The Minister of Interior was accompanied by a delegation comprising Maj Gen Abdullah bin Ali al Harthy, Assistant Inspector General of Police and Customs for Operations; Maj Gen Sulaiman bin Ali al Husseini, Chairman of the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority; and a number of officials.
The conclusion of the exercise was attended by Jasem bin Mohammed Al Budaiwi, GCC Secretary-General.
