Muscat: A thrilling 2–2 draw stole the spotlight in the headline clash of Round 12 of the Jindal Football League, as leaders Seeb Club and closest challengers Al Shabab Club shared the spoils in an entertaining contest at Seeb Stadium. The match was packed with drama and momentum swings until the final moments, keeping the title race wide open as the round continued.
Seeb began aggressively, pressing forward and making full use of home advantage and crowd support. The midfield duo of Arshad al Alawi and Abdullah Fawaz were particularly lively, while the full-backs pushed high to supply crosses. However, Shabab’s disciplined defensive setup and the outstanding performance of international goalkeeper Ibrahim al Mukhaini denied the hosts an early breakthrough.
At the other end, Shabab relied on quick counterattacks and organised transitions. Their approach paid off in the 25th minute when Hatim al Roushdi capitalised on a defensive error, broke clear of goalkeeper Ahmed al Rawahi and calmly slotted the ball home to give his side a 1–0 lead at half-time.
Seeb responded strongly after the break, with their coach introducing attacking substitutes Zaher al Aghbari and Omar al Fazari, which completely shifted the momentum. The equaliser arrived in the 53rd minute when Omar al Maliki rose highest to head in a well-delivered corner.
The pressure continued, and Seeb earned a penalty in the 71st minute. Abdullah Fawaz converted confidently to put the hosts ahead 2–1.
Shabab refused to back down and pushed forward in search of a response. Their persistence paid off in the 88th minute when Yaseen al Shiyadi fired in a low strike to level the score, sparking celebrations among the players and technical staff. Both sides chased a late winner, but the final whistle confirmed a share of the points.
With the result, Seeb moved to 32 points to maintain top spot, while Shabab climbed to 26 points in second place, benefiting from Al Nahda’s slip.
