MUSCAT: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, received on Tuesday Dr Robert Floyd, Executive Secretary of the Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO).
During the meeting, they reviewed the existing aspects of cooperation between Oman and the CTBTO Preparatory Commission. They emphasised the importance of international cooperation and multilateralism in strengthening and supporting the disarmament and non-proliferation regime. Furthermore, they underscored the consolidation of an approach based on dialogue and diplomacy as a fundamental choice for achieving international peace and security.
They also exchanged views on the importance of technical cooperation and capacity building in the fields of monitoring and verification, as well as combating radioactive leakage and its resulting damage. They additionally discussed several issues of common interest.
The meeting was attended by Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah al Qatbi, Head of the International Organisations Department at the Foreign Ministry, and several officials from both sides. — ONA
