MUSCAT: The 77th Republic Day of India was celebrated in Muscat with patriotic fervour and vibrant community participation, as the Embassy of India and the Indian Social Club (ISC) Oman hosted grand events reflecting unity, culture and national pride.

The official celebrations at the Embassy of India began with Chargé d’Affaires Tavishi Behal Pandey laying a floral tribute at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, honouring his enduring legacy of peace and non-violence. She then unfurled the National Flag, followed by the rendition of the Indian National Anthem by students of Indian School Muscat.

Addressing the gathering, Tavishi read excerpts from the President of India’s Republic Day address, highlighting India’s democratic values, developmental progress and aspirations for the future. The occasion was further distinguished by the presence of Commander Y Hemant and Commander Vikas Sheoran, marking the successful maiden voyage of INSV Kaundinya from Porbandar to Muscat. Patriotic songs presented by ISM students added to the solemn yet celebratory atmosphere.

On January 24, the ISC Oman lit up the CBFS auditorium with a spectacular Republic Day programme themed ‘Samanvaya – Unity in Rhythm.’ The event was graced by Tavishi Behal Pandey along with dignitaries and members of the Indian community.

Guests were welcomed with a vibrant photo booth and artistic décor by ISC’s Rangrez team, including a unique interactive canopy where attendees painted Indian motifs and landscapes on a large canvas. The VIP lounge hosted an art exhibition curated by Rangrez, while the stage shimmered with lights displaying ‘Happy Republic Day 2026’ and ‘I Love India.’

Vice-Chairman Suhail Khan welcomed the gathering, and mementos were presented to participating dance institutes in recognition of their contributions. These included Nrityanjali (Premila Ramesh), Rajesh Master Dance Institute, Bhramari Nrithya Fine Arts Academy (Vidushi Theertha Kateel), Tharang Dance Academy (Sreekala M Menon), Antranga Dance Institute (Sneha Nambiar), Leelangika (Jhumpa Chakaborty), and Sattriya (Pompy Gogoi and Archana Borah Baruah).

Anchored by Ramesh Gopalan, the programme was a colourful celebration of culture, talent and unity, reflecting the strong bonds of the Indian community in Oman and the enduring spirit of India’s Republic Day.
