AL JABAL AL AKHDHAR: The Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdhar in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate recorded 222,151 visitors in 2025, up from 203,629 in 2024 — a 9.1 per cent increase, according to figures released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Omani visitors led the arrivals with 82,142, followed by Saudis (14,957), Emiratis (1,588), Kuwaitis (1,441), Qataris (779) and Bahrainis (699). Visitors from other Arab nationalities numbered 9,902, while foreign nationals formed the largest share at 110,643.

The growth has been driven by the availability of quality hotel facilities, rest houses and tourist lodges, along with a strong calendar of events. Al Jabal Al Akhdhar’s reputation as a leading eco-and adventure-tourism destination — offering valley walks, cave visits and mountain climbing — has also enhanced its appeal, while giving visitors a chance to experience the local culture of its mountain villages. — ONA
