

MASIRAH: The third edition of the Masirah Winter Festival was inaugurated began on Masirah Island in the Al Sharqiyah South Governorate, in a festive atmosphere with wide community participation, under the auspices of Sulayem bin Ali al Hakmani, Chairman of Consumer Protection Authority.
Organised to revitalise tourism and social activity on Masirah Island during the winter season, the festival features a diverse programme of cultural, entertainment and sports events. Sections dedicated to productive families and small projects also aim to support entrepreneurs and enhance local economic activity.
Abdullah bin Abdullah Baowain, Wali of Masirah, said the festival represents an important addition to seasonal events highlighting the Wilayat’s tourism and economic assets. He emphasised that such events encourage community participation and open new avenues for youth initiatives and small-and medium-sized enterprises.
He added that the relevant authorities continuously support events of this nature for their role in stimulating tourism, attracting visitors, and promoting the cultural and heritage identity of Masirah Island.
Festival organisers confirmed that this third edition has seen remarkable growth in organisation and the variety of events, aiming to meet the expectations of visitors from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman while showcasing Masirah Island’s tourist and heritage assets.
The Masirah Winter Festival will run from January 15 to 23, attracting visitors and families as it continues its journey toward becoming an annual celebration that strengthens the Wilayat’s status as a premier winter tourist destination. — ONA
