Amerat Tunnel, key road link offered for tender: MTCIT

Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) on Monday held a media briefing to highlight a number of ongoing and upcoming projects in the transport, communications and technology sectors, as well as future plans aimed at enhancing infrastructure and supporting investment in the Sultanate of Oman.

He added that lighting works on the al Batinah Expressway will be carried out following the completion of supplementary works currently under way. With regard to Sultan Turki bin Said Road, he said that a tender for the lighting project has already been issued and that it is expected to become operational during the first half of 2026.

In the field of communications and information technology, the ministry announced that the Middle East Space Conference will be held later this month, which aims to promote and market the space sector in the Sultanate of Oman by highlighting national opportunities and strengthening the country’s presence in the regional and international space industry.

The media briefing forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing engagement with the press to keep the public informed of key developments and initiatives across the transport, communications and technology sectors.

Speaking at the meeting, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Transport said that the al Amerat Tunnel project and the road linking the Wilayat of al Amerat with the Wilayat of Dima W'attayeen are among the investment projects offered for tender. He explained that the ministry is currently receiving and analysing submitted bids as part of efforts to implement strategic road infrastructure projects.
