

KHASAB: Her Highness The Honourable Lady Assayida Ahd Abdullah Hamed al Busaidi, Spouse of the Sultan of Oman, will grace the official opening of Khasab Hospital in Musandam Governorate on Sunday, coinciding with the anniversary of His Majesty the Sultan’s accession to power (Accession Day).
The opening of Khasab Referral Hospital in Musandam Governorate represents a new phase in the development of health services, reflecting national directives aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the healthcare system and modernising its infrastructure. The step reinforces the principle of equity in healthcare provision and aligns with the aspirations for comprehensive development and improving the quality of life for citizens and residents.
Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Governor of Musandam, said that the opening of Khasab Referral Hospital marks a significant milestone in the development of the healthcare system in Musandam Governorate, and a strategic achievement that reflects the governorate’s commitment to modernising infrastructure and enhancing the readiness of the health sector. Its importance stems from its role in improving healthcare services in the governorate, thereby strengthening the efficiency of health coverage, enhancing the health system’s ability to respond to various medical challenges and needs, as well as ensuring the provision of high-quality services to both citizens and residents.
The governor added that this project embodies the noble vision of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, who believes that human beings are the essence, goal and means of development. Extending the highest levels of healthcare to all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, including Musandam Governorate, reflects the wise leadership’s commitment to establishing equitable development and enhancing the quality of life for every citizen and resident.
The governor noted that this project is expected to bring about sustainable improvements in the quality of healthcare through the integration of advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies by specialised medical personnel.
The provision of modern equipment will lead to more accurate clinical outcomes, reduced waiting lists, and a more efficient and transparent patient journey through a technologically advanced system which previously required the patients to travel to other governorates or wilayats.
The hospital will alleviate the suffering experienced by the patients and their families and bring higher-quality and more efficient healthcare services closer to them, the governor said. He added that the hospital will play a fundamental role in supporting social development and enhancing the quality of life in Musandam Governorate by establishing a robust healthcare system which is the cornerstone of social stability. This aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which prioritises the health sector within its focus on people and society, through the creation of an integrated healthcare system that adheres to the highest international standards to ensure sustainable health for the community.
Al Busaidy explained that the hospital will contribute to improving the quality of life index by providing a comprehensive healthcare environment that supports the physical and mental well-being of individuals. Furthermore, the hospital will contribute to strengthening employment policies by employing young Omani talent, thus achieving economic and social empowerment for families in the governorate.
Al Busaidy noted that the health sector is a major contributor to economic development in Musandam Governorate. Advanced infrastructure is a prerequisite for enhancing the investment attractiveness of the governorate. — ONA
