

KHASAB: Her Highness The Honourable Lady Assayida Ahd Abdullah Hamed al Busaidi, Spouse of the Sultan of Oman, graced the official opening ceremony of Khasab Hospital on Sunday. This project is part of the nation’s ongoing efforts to develop the health sector, strengthen the healthcare system, and provide advanced medical services to citizens and residents of Musandam Governorate.
Upon The Honourable Lady’s arrival at Khasab Hospital, folk art troupes from Musandam Governorate performed a variety of traditional Omani heritage arts to express joy and pride in her esteemed presence. She also viewed a welcoming performance presented by students from local schools in celebration of this distinguished occasion.
The Honourable Lady was welcomed by Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health, Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Governor of Musandam, Dr Madeeha bint Ahmed al Shaibaniyah, Minister of Education, and Dr Laila bint Ahmed al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, alongside several senior officials.
Following the reception, The Honourable Lady unveiled the commemorative plaque, marking the official opening of Khasab Hospital. Project officials presented a brief overview of the hospital’s medical capabilities and equipment, praising the efforts invested in completing this health landmark, which was designed and constructed according to the highest technical standards to meet the needs for integrated medical services and healthcare in the governorate.
The Honourable Lady also viewed a visual presentation detailing the hospital's readiness, the current state of health services in Musandam and the approved development plans aimed at elevating the level of healthcare. During her tour of the hospital’s departments, she was briefed on the functions of each unit. The hospital features specialised medical sections including the Daycare Clinic, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Dialysis, Emergency, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Burns, Operating Theatres and Intensive Care, Physical Therapy, Radiology, Laboratories, and Sterilisation, as well as a Training and Development Centre and various administrative and support service departments.
During the visit, The Honourable Lady met with members of the medical and administrative staff. She expressed her deep appreciation for their efforts in delivering health services and affirmed her pride in the dedication shown by those working in this sector to serve the community, valuing their role in advancing the quality of healthcare in Musandam. At the conclusion of her visit, The Honourable Lady recorded a commemorative entry in the hospital’s guestbook to mark her visit to Musandam Governorate and the official opening of Khasab Hospital.
The opening ceremony was attended by several ministers, senior officials, and prominent figures and dignitaries from Musandam Governorate.
DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS
Her Highness The Honourable Lady Assayida Ahd Abdullah Hamed al Busaidi, Spouse of the Sultan of Oman, also conducted a visit to the Sultan Faisal bin Turki Road project and the Aymas Development Project in Musandam Governorate.
During the visit, The Honourable Lady viewed a visual presentation detailing the progress and readiness of the Sultan Faisal bin Turki Road project. This vital infrastructure development serves as a strategic link between the wilayats of Musandam Governorate and is considered a key initiative aimed at modernising the road network and enhancing connectivity across the governorate.
The Honourable Lady also explored the unique natural features of the Aymas Development Project site, which boasts stunning coastlines and surrounding mountainous landscapes that represent significant natural attractions. She was briefed on the existing and planned projects for the Aymas Development site.
The project comes within the framework of the ongoing efforts directed by His Majesty the Sultan to stimulate tourism development, upgrade infrastructure and capitalise on the exceptional natural assets of Musandam Governorate.
