The Sultanate of Oman’s foreign policy is based on good neighbourliness, positive neutrality, and non-interference.
The Council of Ministers recently emphasised Oman’s commitment to forging friendly and cooperative ties with all states to achieve mutual benefit.
It also reiterated Oman’s full support for international law, respect for national sovereignty and independence, and its endorsement of United Nations efforts to maintain international peace and security.
The Council further called on all parties to exercise restraint, engage in dialogue, prevent escalation, and pursue reconciliation to promote security, stability, and the protection of civilians.
The past year saw His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik visiting several countries, and also saw him receiving several foreign presidents or prime ministers, or heads of state.
King of Bahrain Arrives in Oman
King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain arrived here on a two-day state visit to the Sultanate of Oman. His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik led the welcoming party for the King.
Emir of Qatar Arrives in Oman
Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, arrived on a two-day state visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
Kuwait First Deputy PM
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik gave an audience at Al Barakah Palace to Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al Sabah, the first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior in the State of Kuwait. During the audience, the guest conveyed a verbal message to His Majesty the Sultan from Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait.
HM The Sultan Arrives in the Netherlands
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik arrived in Amsterdam on a three-day state visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. When the Royal airplane entered the airspace of the Netherlands, it was escorted by military aircraft of the Royal Netherlands Air Force, in a manifestation of warm welcome for His Majesty the Sultan.
HM visits Russia
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik expressed his gratitude to President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation for the invitation to visit his country and for the warm welcome and hospitality during their meeting. The two nations are marking 40 years of diplomatic relations.
Sharjah Ruler arrives in Oman
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik gave an audience at Al Alam Palace to Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of the Emirate of Sharjah.
HM visits Algeria
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik left Algiers this evening after a two-day state visit to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria led the farewell party for His Majesty the Sultan at Houari Boumediene International Airport.
Crown Prince of Dubai visits Oman
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik gave an audience at Al Barakah Palace today to Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Iran's President arrives in Oman
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik hosted an official dinner at Al Alam Palace guesthouse in honour of President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian of the Islamic Republic of Iran and his accompanying delegation on the occasion of his official visit to the Sultanate of Oman. Before the dinner, His Majesty the Sultan and the Iranian President exchanged commemorative gifts.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik met with Keir Starmer, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK). The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Office in London. The meeting reviewed aspects of existing cooperation between the two countries and underscored their mutual commitment to strengthening the foundations of their strategic partnership and expanding its horizons across various economic, investment, and trade sectors.
Bahrain King arrives in Salalah
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain held a cordial meeting at Bait Al Rabat in Salalah. At the outset of the meeting, His Majesty renewed his welcome for the King and his accompanying delegation.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik gave an audience at Al Hosn Palace in Salalah to Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani, Prime Minister of the Republic of Iraq. The audience took place within the context of the Iraqi PM’s current two-day official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
UAE president arrives in Salalah
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of United Arab Emirates (UAE), held a fraternal meeting at Al Hosn Palace in Salalah. During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed a number of topics of mutual interest and discussed means of strengthening avenues of cooperation and partnership to contribute to the economic prosperity of both countries, serving the aspirations of the two countries’ peoples.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik arrived in Minsk today on a two-day state visit to the Republic of Belarus. President Alexander Lukashenko of the Republic of Belarus led the welcoming party for His Majesty the Sultan upon his arrival at the Independence Palace in Minsk. He wished His Majesty the Sultan and his accompanying delegation a pleasant stay.

Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait, arrived here this morning on a private visit to the Sultanate of Oman. His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik led the welcoming party for the Emir of Kuwait upon his arrival at the Royal Airport.
Turkish President visits Oman
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Turkiye graced the signing of a joint declaration and communique, six agreements and eight memoranda of understanding (MoUs).

King Felipe VI of the Kingdom of Spain and Queen Letizia hosted an official dinner at the Royal Palace in Madrid. Before the dinner, His Majesty the Sultan shook hands with Pedro Sánchez, Prime Minister of Spain, along with several senior dignitaries.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik participated in the 46th GCC Summit, which was held at Sakhir Palace in Manama, the Kingdom of Bahrain.
UN Secretary General
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has conferred the Oman Civil Order (First Class) upon António Guterres, Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), during an audience at Al Barakah Palace. The honour was bestowed in recognition of the UN Chief’s distinguished diplomatic and political role, as well as his sustained efforts in supporting conflict resolution and advancing international peace and security.
Indian Prime Minister
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of the Republic of India, convened an official session of talks at Al Barakah Palace. The high-level discussions focused on reviewing the extensive framework of bilateral cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of India. The talks explored strategic avenues to expand this partnership and unlock new investment frontiers, with particular emphasis on the sectors of energy, technology, logistics.
Saudi Foreign Minister
His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik today gave an audience to Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, at Al Barakah Palace. Prince Faisal conveyed greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
