MUSCAT: The Positive Vision Association (PVA) successfully concluded its Second Charity Golf Tournament on Friday, January 2, at Ghala Golf Club, raising RO 8,000 in support of its ongoing health, awareness and community programmes focused on HIV/AIDS and substance use prevention.
Following the strong engagement of last year’s edition, this year’s tournament reflected growing confidence in PVA’s mission and the shared commitment of sponsors, participants and partners to community-led action. The funds raised will support HIV/AIDS awareness, substance use prevention and recovery support, peer education and stigma-reduction initiatives.
The event, hosted at Ghala Golf Club with Renaissance Services as title sponsors, featured 20 teams competing in an 18-hole Texas Scramble. Prizes were awarded to the top three teams, while nine individual golfers received hole awards. The competition was followed by dinner, live music and raffle prizes, bringing together representatives from the corporate sector, sporting community and civil society.
Nashia Nasib, President of PVA, said, “The continued success of this tournament reflects the trust placed in our work and the strength of the partnerships that support it. The funds raised will enhance our efforts to raise awareness among youth, provide education and care; and support individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS and substance use, while promoting dignity, inclusion and shared responsibility”.
Ahmed al Farsi, General Manager of Ghala Golf Club, highlighted that hosting the tournament is part of the Club’s commitment to using sport as a platform for meaningful social impact. “The success of the event demonstrates how charitable initiatives can engage communities and reinforce the principles of social responsibility through sporting activities”, he said.
The tournament was supported by Special Technical Services (STS) as Gold Sponsor, while Oman Pharmaceutical Products Co SAOC (ZINOVA), Moore Oman, Al Busaidy, Mansoor Jamal & Co (AMJ), Desert Nights Camp LLC; and Dolphin Village Muscat LLC served as Bronze Sponsors. The Golden Oryx provided hospitality support.
The annual tournament continues to strengthen PVA’s partnerships and demonstrates how sport can be leveraged to drive social awareness, community engagement and charitable giving in Oman.
PVA is a non-profit organisation focused on public awareness, education and support related to HIV/AIDS and substance use recovery. Through peer education, community engagement and partnerships, PVA works to reduce stigma, strengthen support networks and promote inclusion, dignity and access to health resources.
