Based on international reports received by the Ministry of Health (MOH) regarding Nestlé's recall of some infant formula products due to potential contamination with Cereulide, it advised citizens and residents not to use the suspected products and to check the batch numbers listed in the attached table.
MOH confirmed that it has not recorded any cases of illness related to these products up to the date of this alert and recommends the safe disposal of the suspected products.
"In the event of any health symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, or abdominal pain, visit the nearest health facility immediately."
MOH also confirmed that it has taken all necessary measures, in coordination with the relevant authorities and the company concerned, to withdraw these products from the Omani market and to monitor the implementation of this, in the interest of public health and safety.
Nestle recently issued a global recall of some baby formula products over concerns they contain a toxin that can cause food poisoning.
The food and drink giant said specific batches of its SMA infant formula and follow-on formula were not safe to be fed to babies.
The batches were sold across the world, Nestle said, and they potentially contain cereulide, which can trigger nausea and vomiting when consumed.
The company said there had been no confirmed reports of illness associated with the products, but was recalling them "out of an abundance of caution".
