The Royal Academy of Management (RAM) has achieved a major international milestone by becoming the first institution in the GCC region to receive the Learning for Impact Today and Tomorrow (LIFT) certification from EFMD Global, one of the world’s most respected organisations in leadership and management development.

The announcement was made during a ceremony held at RAM’s headquarters, attended by senior officials and stakeholders, including Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, whose presence marked the national importance of the achievement.

The certification recognises institutions that demonstrate measurable and sustainable impact through learning, not only strong performance, but real value for organisations, society and national development. RAM achieved this distinction in less than four years since its establishment, reflecting the academy’s rapid progress and clear strategic direction.

Dr Ali bin Qassim al Lawati, President of the Royal Academy of Management (RAM), said the certification carries special value for three main reasons. "First, it comes from a highly respected international body recognised by academic authorities in Oman. Second, it focuses on measuring impact, not just outcomes or activities. Not every good performance leads to sustainable impact,” he said, adding that the certification confirms RAM’s success in delivering long-term value to society.

Martin Moehrle, Director at EFMD Global, praised RAM’s deep alignment with Oman Vision 2040. He explained that effective learning must always be linked to clear objectives and national priorities. Through the LIFT assessment, EFMD found that RAM is strongly grounded in Oman’s long-term vision and plays a key role in building capabilities across multiple sectors. He also noted that RAM has developed a strong leadership ecosystem involving mentors, coaches, trainers and alumni, working together to accelerate leadership development, even extending initiatives to younger generations.

The certification places RAM within an international community of excellence in learning and development and strengthens its credibility at national, regional and global levels.

EFMD reviewers highlighted several strengths, including RAM’s purpose-driven learning culture, strong participant and alumni engagement, transparent governance, and its clear societal reach.
