AL MUDHAIBI: The Environment Department in Al Sharqiyah North Governorate organised an environmental campaign on Wednesday titled 'Seed of Hope'. The initiative aims to plant one million seeds across the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi to mark Oman Environment Day, which falls on January 8 annually.

The ceremony was held under the auspices of Shaikh Saud bin Mohammed al Hinai, Wali of Al Mudhaibi.

Eng Said bin Nasser al Abdali, Director of the Environment Department in Al Sharqiyah North, stated that the campaign translates the national commitment to creating a healthy and integrated green environment.

He noted that the initiative aims to restore the natural balance of local ecosystems, adds natural beauty to the local landscapes of the wilayat and focuses on increasing vegetation cover to stabilise soil.

In addition to the planting, the initiative included a tree-pruning campaign at selected sites. This activity aims to improve the health of existing trees and stimulate natural growth, thereby enhancing the overall quality of the local ecosystem. - ONA
