MUSCAT: The rising colt SSR Kahlilan delivered an impressive performance to win the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Cup in the fifth race held on Sunday evening at the Sharjah Longines Racecourse, marking a
significant achievement for Omani horse racing at one of the region’s most prominent venues.
Owned by Salim bin Said al Rashidi, ridden by jockey Hamad bin Sultan al Malki and trained by Abdulaziz bin Salim al Rashidi, the talented colt represented Al Mahamid Stud of the Sultanate of Oman. SSR Kahlilan demonstrated composure and strength throughout the race, before producing a decisive finishing burst that allowed him to pull clear of his rivals in the closing stages.
The fifth race featured a highly competitive field comprising leading Arabian bred horses, with participants aiming to secure one of the most prestigious titles in the regional racing calendar, SSR Kahlilan's victory underlined his rapid development and confirmed his status as one of the most promising emerging colts in the Gulf.
