MUSCAT: A 15-year-old Indian student and Omani resident, Hana Aneesa, launched her first anthology of poems, 'The Fall', at Talent Space International on Friday. The event was presided over by Savita Saluja, Vice-Principal of the Indian School Al Maabela, and drew poetry enthusiasts from across Oman.

Hana, a class 10 student, has chosen poetry as a medium to express her thoughts, emotions and reflections on life. The collection, published by Olive Books, brings together 41 poems exploring the transformations of the human mind.

Rather than portraying life’s falls as failures, Hana presents them as moments of self-realisation, celebrating resilience and the strength to rise after setbacks. Nature, the moon and silence feature prominently in her poetic imagery.

The first copy was received by media representatives, educators, social activists and prominent literary figures, namely Kabeer Yousuf, Lakshmi Kothaneth, Prof Nelson of the National University of Science and Technology, social activist Balakrishnan Kunimal, Sunil Kumar, Anu Chandran, Indian Social Club Secretary Santhosh Kumar, Nidish Kumar of the Indian School Board, and writers Haroon Rasheed and Rajan V Kokoori. They praised the anthology, describing it as a meditation on the descent — not the crash — capturing the suspended moments where one faces oneself in stillness before reaching the ground.

Speaking at the launch, Hana shared her journey in literary writing and the experiences that inspired 'The Fall'. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to her parents, Niyaz and Arifa, teachers, and friends for their support. The event was hosted by Mujeeb Majeed.

'The Fall' had its initial launch at the Sharjah Book Festival and is now available for readers in Oman, marking the promising start of a young poet’s literary career.
