SHALEEM AND AL HALLANIYAT ISLANDS: The marketing exhibition for heritage and craft industries opened on Thursday in the Niyabat of Al Shuwaimiyah in the Wilayat of Shaleem and Al Hallaniyat Islands. The exhibition is organised by the Department of Small and Medium Enterprises Development in the Governorate of Dhofar and will continue until Sunday, December 14.
The exhibition aims to support craftswomen and productive families, enhance the visibility of heritage and traditional industries as an integral part of Omani cultural identity, and provide a marketing platform that enables participants to showcase their products and engage directly with visitors and members of the community.
Around 60 craftswomen are taking part in the exhibition, which features a wide range of sections covering traditional handicrafts, handmade products and artistic works, in addition to a dedicated section for Omani cuisine.
The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to support productive families, encourage home-based businesses and create sustainable income opportunities.
The exhibition also contributes to highlighting the creativity and skills of Omani women, strengthening the role of traditional industries in supporting the local economy, preserving craft heritage and ensuring its transmission to future generations. — ONA
