MUSCAT: Khazaen Dry Port, operated by Asyad Group in partnership with the private sector, has signed a strategic agreement with SSC Consolidation, a leading global provider of less-than-container-load (LCL) and non-operating marine shipping services, to establish an integrated LCL consolidation and distribution centre. The move strengthens Oman’s position as a regional and global logistics hub.
Under the agreement, the customs warehouse at Khazaen Dry Port will serve as a primary hub for unloading and redistributing LCL shipments across the Sultanate of Oman. This is expected to speed up customs clearance, lower transportation costs and improve supply chain efficiency, while offering businesses more flexible and responsive logistics solutions.
The partnership supports Oman’s role as a key trade gateway linking regional and international markets and aligns with Oman Vision 2040 objectives of economic diversification and enhancing supply chain competitiveness for national companies.
SSC Consolidation will expand cargo movement within the local market through direct weekly shipping services connecting Khazaen Dry Port with ports in the UAE, Germany, the United States, Belgium and India. These connections will provide importers and exporters with more competitive shipping options and broaden Oman’s trade network.
As part of the agreement, Khazaen Dry Port will be designated as a final destination on SSC Consolidation’s bills of lading within Oman, integrating the port into the company’s global logistics network. This is expected to support re-export activity and open new growth opportunities for the national logistics sector.
SSC Consolidation will also leverage Asyad Group’s integrated logistics services, including transportation, handling, warehousing and supply chain management, to implement its operations. The partnership reflects confidence in Asyad’s capabilities and provides efficient access to regional and global markets through Khazaen’s modern infrastructure and connectivity to ports, free zones and economic areas.
Al Khattab bin Salem al Maani, Vice President of Commercial Affairs at Asyad Ports and Freezones, said the agreement reinforces Asyad Group’s commitment to strengthening Oman’s position as a global logistics hub by delivering innovative solutions that enhance supply chain efficiency. Sheikh Morazuddin, Sales Director for Asia and the Mediterranean at SSC Consolidation, said the partnership marks a significant step in expanding LCL services to Oman, improving last-mile connectivity and reinforcing the company’s global trade network. — ONA
